Why am I doing this?

Unemployed at the age of 52 is great fun. First you get to sleep in, then watch your belly grow as a sedentary life style and comfort eating kicks in. Next comes the deep navel gazing, wondering what you could have done better and searching out in amongst the fluff in there the times when you would have done it differently if only you'd known. Only you didn't and so what's the point.
The point is that you've got a lifetime of experience to call upon and the opportunity to do all those things you wanted to do but never could. So instead of being a stressed out company director juggling results and scrabbling to keep my own and other's heads above the rising tide of mire which is the business world today, I'm going to be a writer. And I'l probably buy a Harley Davidson too. Providing my wife doesn't find out...
